I’ve been building for the web since 1996. I’ve seen the trends come and go, the “next big things” arrive and disappear, and the technologies change beyond recognition. But through it all, one thing has remained the same: small businesses just need a website that works, and a person they can trust to look after it.

I started hand-coding websites in 1996, back when the internet was still finding its feet. By 2000, I was the Creative Director for a large web agency, overseeing complex projects and leading a team during the height of the first tech boom.

When the “dot com bubble” burst in 2002, it was a reality check for the whole industry. It taught me the value of building things that last, focusing on substance over style and real world results over digital hype.

In 2006, I decided to take all that “big agency” experience and bring it back to a more personal level. I founded Hilmon to work directly with small and medium sized businesses. I wanted to be the person on the other end of the phone, not a department or a ticketing system.

I care deeply about the work I put onto the internet. To me, a website isn’t just a digital brochure; it’s your reputation, and by extension, it’s mine too.

Most of my clients are experts in what they do, whether that’s a tradesman, retail, or professional services, but they aren’t experts in web hosting, security, or SEO. And they shouldn’t have to be.

My role is to take those headaches away. When we work together, you get:

  • 30 Years of Experience: I’ve seen almost every technical “glitch” there is, so you don’t have to worry about them.
  • A Personal Service: You deal with me, the person doing the work, every single time.
  • Total Responsibility: I don’t just build your site and disappear. I look after the hosting, the updates, and the “tech stuff” so you can stay focused on your business.

For me, it’s all about building relationships that last. Being there when it matters.
