WordPress Website Design
& Development

Clunky page builders, images that won’t sit right on a phone, the nagging worry about security and updates: these are the things that quietly eat a small business owner’s time. That’s the part I take care of, including the technical side most people would rather not think about: hosting, domain management and SSL certificates.

I’ve been building websites for 30 years, and the thing that matters most hasn’t changed: one person who knows your project inside out, from the first chat to long after you’re live.

Nothing gets lost in a handover, because there isn’t one.

You always know who’s looking after your site, and exactly who to call when something needs changing or fixing.

I build with native WordPress blocks rather than a pile of third-party plugins. Every plugin you add is one more thing that can slow your site, break after an update, or open a security hole, so I keep them to a minimum. If you’re curious why that matters, I’ve written up why I build with WordPress.

Everything is coded to be fully responsive, so your text and images sit right on any screen, and the site stays fast, secure and easy to update.

Every website I build comes with the essentials to run your business online. These are the things every small-business site actually needs to work properly, not optional upsells. No hidden fees for the basics.

Every project is quoted individually, but here’s a rough guide to help you budget. Most small-business builds land around €1,200.

Take a look at some WordPress websites I’ve built for other small businesses.
Clean, welcoming sites that put visitors at ease and guide them gently towards getting in touch or buying from you.

For solicitors, accountants, and consultants, I focus on creating clean, professional designs that immediately establish trust and highlight your expertise.

I set up manageable, user friendly online shops that help local independent stores get their products into the hands of a wider audience without the stress.

Whether you run a local restaurant or a boat tour operator, I create inviting websites that showcase your unique services and help drive direct bookings.

I build straightforward, lead generating websites for builders, plumbers, and electricians that make it incredibly easy for local customers to request a quote.

For artists, makers, and designers, I build highly visual, uncluttered portfolios that step back and let your actual creative work do all the talking.

Clinics and therapists need welcoming, accessible websites, so I focus on calm colours and clear booking systems that put your patients completely at ease.

You’ve seen the sites, here’s what the people behind them make of working with me, in their own words on Google.

How much does a website cost?

Sites start at €750, and most small-business builds land around €1,200. After a quick chat about what you actually need, I give you a fixed-price quote with no hidden extras.

How long does it take to build?

Most sites go live within 4 to 8 weeks. The biggest variable is usually how quickly the content comes together, so the sooner you can get your text and images to me, the sooner you’re live.

What is a domain name and do I need one before I start?

Your domain name is the digital address for your website and email. Mine is hilmon.ie. If you’re confident that you want a website then yes, registering your domain is the first step. If your audience is primarily in Ireland, registering a .ie domain is highly recommended.

Can you register the domain name for me?

Technically, yes I can, but it’s much better to register your domain yourself, on your own account, so you own it outright and have easy access to it. I can walk you through the process, but the account stays yours.

Will you look after the website hosting?

Yes, if you’d like me to, and most of my clients do. The reason is simple: if something goes wrong with the hosting, it’s my job to fix it, not yours. You still get full access to your website’s hosting account. This includes: regular software updates, security checks, SSL certificate and DNS management. If you’d rather organise your own hosting, that’s no problem too. There’s more about my hosting services on my Managed Web Hosting page.

Will you handle my email too?

Yes. I can set up and manage your email alongside your hosting, or you can use a third party service like Google Workspace (Gmail for business) or Microsoft 365. See my Managed Web Hosting page for what’s covered.

Who owns the website once it’s finished, you or me?

You do, 100%. The website files and all the contents. I build it, but it belongs to you.

Will I be able to update the site myself?

Yes. It’s built on native WordPress blocks, and I’ll walk you through your dashboard so you can change text and swap photos without any fuss.

What happens after the site goes live?

I don’t disappear at launch. I’m on the other end of the phone or email for updates and support whenever you need me.

Can you build an online shop?

Yes, using WooCommerce, with products, payments and shipping set up and ready for your first sale.

Is SEO included?

Foundational on-page SEO is built in as standard. Deeper SEO, AEO and AI Readiness are a separate service if you want to push further.

Why not just use an AI website builder?

AI tools can churn out simple websites if you know what you’re doing, but they don’t understand your business, hold a relationship, or take responsibility when something breaks. That’s my job.
